Today, Downtown Trenton will be abuzz as crowds line the streets for First Fridays and Trenton’s Cinco de Mayo celebration.

Residents and visitors can check out two simultaneous Cinco de Mayo celebrations in Downtown Trenton on South Warren Street and East Front Street. Activities on South Warren Street are part of the City of Trenton’s celebration and activities on East Front Street are part of First Fridays put on by The African American Cultural Collaborative of Mercer County. Both events will feature music, food, and more!

In addition to the Cinco de Mayo celebrations, patrons can visit many of the following art exhibits being ushered in as part of First Friday.

May First Friday at Base Camp Trenton (247 E. Front Street 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.)

The opening show features 31 active members of the Trenton Community A-Team (TCAT), a local non-profit organization that supports, develops, and promotes self-taught artists in the Trenton community. The TCAT team and artists believe “art can be transformative by reframing artists’ connectedness to self and others.”

Each active member will have one piece (some with more!) exhibited in the show, so there’s A LOT of local talent to see! Learn more about TCAT @ https://www.tcateam.org/about

Every month, the walls of Trenton Social feature the work of a different regional artist, kicking off with an opening event on First Friday. Meet the artist, view the collection, and enjoy great drinks, food and music.

About May’s Artist: For the past five years, Hulya Guler has been working in two distinct modes: from life and from imagination. In analogy with “real” and “imaginary” numbers in mathematics, she likes to whimsically call these works “real” and “imaginary”. For more information visit
