Visual Artist FlyKickz curates and organizes Art Show Fundraiser to support friend and local visual artist Matt Morton “ArtofMatLoc” on his journey back to good health as he continues to conquer Stage 4 Colon Cancer. This one night only, pop-up solo exhibition “ArtOverPain” takes place October 11th, from 6-9pm at Mercer County Community College, James Kerney Campus Gallery located at 137 N. Broad Street, Trenton NJ. All proceeds from this event will be donated to Matt.
FlyKickz is an artist, active volunteer, philanthropist and a supporter of the Trenton community who has raised over $25K since 2018 to fund several community related endeavors. Her unique style of art on canvas uses upcycled sneakers to create bold, beautiful and innovative concepts & designs. FlyKickz has always had a strong passion for giving back to the community and believes in the importance of uplifting, inspiring and instilling hope. When FlyKickz learned friend and fellow artist Matt “ArtofMatLoc” was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer at just 37 years old she sprang into action to raise the money to coordinate the Art Show Fundraiser. Within 40 days, with the help of friends, supporters and a grant from ISLES, FlyKickz was able to rent a venue and begin purchasing all the necessities needed to organize this event.
In late March, Matt a multifaceted artist and father known as “ArtofMatLoc” was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer and as one chapter of his life came to a close another chapter filled with a greater purpose began. Despite having to cope with a life-altering diagnosis, Matt remains committed to staying positive and allowing his love for art to help him overcome the pain. ArtOverPain is a collection that represents the adversity we face and what we do with the cards we are dealt. It’s about not giving up, being resilient and having the power to keep going. This collection represents the journey of perseverance and how a love of art helped to overcome the challenges, obstacles and triumph over the pain. ArtOverPain encapsulates passion, strength, emotion and the will to keep fighting.
“It takes a village” and with the help of friends, family and supporters FlyKickz aspires to create an event that exemplifies art, community and what supporting one another is all about; together we’ll Conquer Cancer! We welcome you to join us on October 11th to enjoy a night of great Art, Music, Food, Raffles & More.
