Beyond Mark Making Star Wheel Printers will be on display at Artworks Trenton from January 22 through February 23 with an opening reception on Saturday, January 26 from 7 to 9 p.m.

This exhibition presents a variety of printmaking processes that celebrates the individual’s use of mark marking to create a visual impact. Each artist’s approach varies drastically ranging from subtle and gentle to bold and severe; and though each artist has a very distinct hand, they convey comparable omnipresent ideas and emotions. Star Wheel printmakers use intuitive mark making to tell stories and share personal insights that relate aspects of the human condition. With intense investigation and manipulation of materials we create a range of imagery with diverse marks, color, and compositions. Whether connecting to the physical world or displaying the abstract, each artist exhibits unique and exciting uses for print media.

Star Wheel Printers is a collective of professional printmakers who aim to support, promote and share printmaking with other artists and communities in the Philadelphia, New Jersey, and New York city areas. SWP acknowledges the region’s printmakers and presents a means to share our passion for relief, intaglio, planographic, serigraphic printing and the like with each other and with the public. SWP relies solely on the efforts and dedicated hard work of its founders and members. The collective seeks to engage dedicated emerging and professional artists by forging connections through collaborative projects, exhibitions, discussions, and a continued exchange of ideas. Star Wheel Printers fosters and encourages an appreciation of printmaking by further educating each other and the community about this art form.”
