From July 6th to September 4th the Boys and Girls Clubs of Mercer County will launch its Live and Online Summer Camp program. This is an alternative option for individuals who are choosing not to participate in either of their two in-person summer camps.
During the day the Club will live-stream about four hours of K-8 grade appropriate programming each day. These programs will go live from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m. to 12 Noon, 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. There will be supplemental activities provided for campers and parents by the Club’s Learning Management System so members can complete activities daily. There will also be free online links provided which will take parents and students to multiple recreation and enrichment activities.
In tandem with this, campers will be able to access the Boys and Girls Clubs of America’s online My Future technology platform, which offers a variety of entertaining games, cultural, science, art, college and career adventures plus many other types of educational adventures. Campers may use also the online Lexia Literacy & Language Arts program to support improved reading and writing.
For children in grades K through five, a daily curriculum will include: Fine Arts and Crafts, Academic Hour (switching between math and language arts skills), STEM, Character Education and Virtual Field Trips. For children in grades six through eight, a daily curriculum will include: Fine Arts and Crafts, Academic Hour, WowTalk (conversations about current events), Virtual Field Trips and Character Education.
The Boys and Girls Club of Mercer County’s Virtual Summer Camp costs $20 a week, which will include a weekly activity kit giving students the supplies necessary for ongoing activities. If parents register their children for three or more weeks at a time, the fee will drop five dollars and become $15 a week. All Trenton District students can register for the entire summer for just $25. Finally, Boys and Girls Club’s 21st Century students can enroll for free!
