Vivaldi’s “The Seasons” is a celebrated piece of classical music that is widely regarded as one of the most extravagant bodies of music ever composed. This iconic piece is broken into four parts: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Each concerto evokes the sites and sounds of the season, providing an immersive experience to the listener with every single note. From chirping birds in the spring to the icy wind of winter, Vivaldi has vividly captured the essence of each passing season. Having emerged from the baroque period, this style of music is defined by contrast, drama, and vibrant use of instrumentation. This is a favorite piece of classical enthusiasts far and near, and now is your chance to see this famous composition come to life.
This performance will feature the award-winning violinist Lorenzo Mazzamuto. Joining him is the winner of the Capital Philharmonic’s inaugural Emerging Artists Concerto Competition. This contest brought together some of the region’s most talented young artists ranging from 10-18 years old to compete for a chance to perform on the Capital Philharmonic stage. The winner of this event was also presented with a $500 cash prize. This year’s winner was Angela Zhang, who competed amongst 15 musicians to wow the distinguished panel of judges. During this performance, Ms. Zhang will be performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor alongside the talented members of the Capital Philharmonic.
