We hope you’re ready to light up the night with some holiday cheer!
On Wednesday, December 7th, Trenton will be hosting its annual tree lighting and holiday celebration. The event will kick off at 4:30pm in front of City Hall. This festive occasion has been enjoyed by generations of Trentonians, and this year the decades-long tradition continues with some of the season’s favorite pastimes. Guests can look forward to refreshments, entertainment, and can even see Santa Claus! The ceremony will feature musical performances by the Trenton Central High School Orchestra, as well as the Sprout U School of the Arts. After indulging in some holiday tunes, guests will get to enjoy the official lighting of the tree in front of City Hall, officially kicking off the holiday season in Trenton.
Once the tree lighting ceremony concludes, the holiday fun continues throughout the city, with lighting ceremonies taking place at both Angel Island (N. Warren St. and Perry St.), as well as Downtown (S. Warren St. and Front St.). The event will also feature the return of the lighting of the statue of St. Michael. As twinkling decorations light up the streets, we’re reminded of both Trenton’s rich history and the bright future our city has to look forward to. The event is presented by the Department of Recreation, Natural Resources, and Culture, the city’s home for a variety of enrichment and recreational events. Each year, the city hosts events like the tree lighting, movie nights, and more to connect our community and provide safe, enjoyable activities for Trentonians of all ages.
Be sure to mark your calendars and gather the whole family to enjoy some holiday fun with your friends and neighbors. If you have any questions prior to the ceremony, please contact the Dept. of Recreation, Natural Resources, and Culture at (609) 989-3369 for further details. We can’t wait to get the holiday magic started!
