The City of Trenton’s Department of Health and Human Services – Trenton Animal Shelter will launch its Fall 2025 Rabies Vaccination Series, offering free rabies vaccines for dogs and cats aged three months and older throughout October and November.
Rabies is an illness that can spread to animals and humans through bites from an already infected animal. Rabies is caused by a virus that attacks the brain and body, resulting in severe illness. If left untreated, a rabies infection can be life-threatening; signs and symptoms of an infected pet can include changes in behavior, excessive drool, and confusion. It is important for pets to receive their annual vaccinations for the protection of themselves, their families, and the community.
To prevent the spread of rabies, it is vital for pets to stay up to date with their vaccinations, stay away from wild animals such as raccoons, bats, possums, stray cats and dogs.
Vaccinations will be provided free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis with a valid form of identification at various locations across the City.
