New Jersey’s state capital is proud to present Patriots Week. This year’s Patriots Week runs from December 26 through December 31, 2024. This annual event will allow residents and visitors to witness the capital city’s rich history come alive through the numerous activities offered throughout the week. This immersive experience brings history to life and celebrates the fundamental role Trenton played in shaping our nation’s independence.
This year’s Patriots Week offers a robust lineup of events for people of all ages and backgrounds. On Wednesday, December 25, Patriots Week kicks off with the Annual Christmas Day Crossing Reenactment at Washington Crossing Historic Park, with all events on the following days taking place in Trenton. Each day offers an extensive selection of events that residents and visitors can take part in, such as NJ State House Tours, Musket-firing Demonstrations, the Battle of Trenton Reenactment, the Assunpink Firewalk & Reading of Thomas Paine’s The American Crisis, and much more. Visit the Colonial-era sites to enjoy a fascinating glimpse of remarkable history “hidden” throughout the City, and check the events calendar at Patriotsweek.com to make plans to celebrate 2024 in historic style.
“Patriots Week is one of my favorite traditions in the City. It celebrates a crucial part of our nation’s history and Trenton’s rich history,” said Mayor W. Reed Gusciora. “We’re excited to welcome the hundreds of visitors who come to our City each year to witness the battle reenactment in action and participate in the numerous exciting activities offered. A special thank you to the dedicated individuals, organizations, and volunteers who work tirelessly to bring this event to life.”
Saturday, December 28, features the grand highlight of the week with reenactments of the Battle of Trenton, the Firewalk along Assunpink Creek, citywide programming that will help visitors understand the significance of the day, and the City’s Kwanzaa celebration.
This amazing event offers an exciting opportunity to connect with our past and celebrate our shared history. Whether you are a history buff, a family looking for something to do this holiday season, or a heritage traveler, Patriots Week has an array of events for everyone.
Patriots Week 2024 is presented by a coalition of local and State heritage partners in partnership with the Old Barracks Museum, the City of Trenton, Crossroads of the American Revolution, RevNJ, and the Trenton Downtown Association (TDA).
