From the dazzling stars to glimmering distant planets, space is a magical place. Since the dawn of discovery, humanity has been captivated by what lies beyond our skies. After centuries of research and learning, mankind still has much to learn when it comes to the cosmos. But with each passing year, humanity takes yet another step towards deepening our understanding of the many mysteries of the galaxy. For even the youngest among us, space has the power to captivate our imaginations and inspire us to explore the vastness of the cosmos. If your little space explorer is ready to blast off for a day of astro-themed fun, stay tuned, because in a matter of weeks, January’s Small Explorers will be soaring towards an unforgettable journey.
On Saturday, January 11th, the New Jersey State Museum invites your little learner to take to the skies at January’s Small Explorers, entitled “Space Exploration”. This fun-filled and educational journey invites kiddos to come along and discover why space is the place to be. The day’s journey will kick off with a showing of the breathtaking Planetarium show, One World, One Sky. Following this presentation, families are invited to journey to the museum’s Riverside Court, where they will be able to dig into a delicious pizza lunch and enjoy videos of astronauts telling stories from space.
This celebration of space will take place at the New Jersey State Museum campus, located at 205 W State St, Trenton, NJ 08608. For guests planning on driving, there is plenty of free parking available at the museum’s lot, as well as in the surrounding garages and on the street. Please do be aware that this month’s session of Small Explorers will only be offering one morning session, which will begin promptly at 10:15am. As always, this and any future sessions of the Small Explorers initiative are free to attend.
The Small Explorers program, a collaborative effort between the PNC Grow Up Great program and the New Jersey State Museum, aims to foster a sense of community among Trenton area families. This play group provides an opportunity for families to come together, connect, and create unforgettable moments of learning. Designed with the museum’s youngest visitors in mind, the program offers engaging programming tailored for children aged 6 months to 5 years.
As little ones embark on a captivating journey through the museum, parents are encouraged to engage in conversations, share resources, and build a supportive network with fellow community members. Each month, the program delves into an educational and captivating topic, covering a wide range of diverse subject areas such as science, nature, art, music, and more.
While the Small Explorers program is free to attend, space is limited and advanced registration is required. To secure your spot, please complete the registration form, linked here: Register – Small Explorers. Ensure that your enrollment is received by 10:00 am the Friday before the event to allow sufficient time for staff to confirm space availability.
