National Social Work Month is a time to recognize and celebrate the dedication of social workers who make a lasting impact on individuals, families, and communities. The Children’s Home Society of NJ (CHSofNJ) had the privilege of launching this important month by hosting the Trenton Area Stakeholders Meeting, bringing together over 100 social service and nonprofit funding professionals for a morning of meaningful discussion, collaboration, and innovation.
Expert Panelists Driving Change
A distinguished panel of CHSofNJ leaders shared their expertise and insights, addressing key challenges and opportunities in the field of social work:
🔹 Isaac L. Dorsey – Executive Director of Head Start at CHSofNJ
🔹 Julie Dees, MBA, LPC – CEO
🔹 Dolores A. Bryant, MSW, LCSW – VP, Trauma-Informed Clinical Services
🔹 Maritza I. Raimundi-Petroski – VP, Strategic Community Partnerships
Their discussion covered a range of critical topics, including strategies for strengthening community partnerships. Attendees gained valuable perspectives on how to enhance services and improve outcomes for the populations they serve.
Fostering Engagement and Collaboration
The event was not only about knowledge-sharing but also about building stronger connections among professionals dedicated to social change.
CHSofNJ Director of Communications and Development Lisa Thibault set the “stronger together” tone by opening the meeting with a demonstration inspired by Native American leader Tecumseh: “A single twig breaks easily, but a bundle of twigs is unbreakable.”
A special thank you for this event goes to:
Mike Roseborough, CHSofNJ School-Based Services Director, for ensuring the event ran smoothly.
Marianne Chopp Alt, CHSofNJ/Kidsbridge, for leading “brain break” activities to keep energy levels high.
Angela McManimon, Director of Development & Communications at Millhill Child & Family Development, for creating a warm and welcoming environment.
Strengthening Communities Through Action
By bringing together experts, advocates, and community leaders, the Trenton Area Stakeholders, which is led by Millhill Child & Family Development, continues to drive forward its mission of providing an ongoing forum for open sharing in order to foster collaborations and necessary dialogue that will strengthen Greater Trenton as a place to live and work. “Events like these serve as a reminder of the power of collaboration in addressing social challenges and creating lasting change,” said TAS meeting coordinator Angie McManimon, Director of Communications and Development at Millhill Child & Family Development.
