Several local businesses are getting into the spirit as the City of Trenton prepares for its inaugural Chinese New Year Celebration on Tuesday, February 5. The festivities will include a night market along South Warren between East State and Lafayette beginning at 4 p.m.
“It’s exciting to see businesses along South Warren Street coming together to make this a truly special event,” said Mayor Reed Gusciora. “This is going to set a great tone for what will be an annual tradition in Trenton, drawing in visitors from across New Jersey.”
The Big Easy Restaurant is overhauling its entire menu for the occasion. The menu for the day will include spring rolls, chicken fried rice, spring friend rice, beef ribs, sesame noodles, egg drop soup, teas, and more dishes.
Other participating businesses include:
· Checkers Food & Spirit will have a Chinese fusion dish
· Columbus Pizza will serve a Chinese pizza
· Sunrise Luncheonette will serve Chinese food
· Starbucks will be giving away toys and prizes and will stay open late
· 1911 Smokehouse will stay open
· Classic Books & Gifts will stay open
Vendors will have booths along the street with food, games, performances, and more, and the street will be lined with lanterns and other decorations. The evening will also include a children’s dragon parade. The Grand Marshall for the parade will be Lena Chang, co-founder of NJ CURE Auto Insurance and co-founder of NJ PURE Medical Professional Liability.
The event is free and open to all. Additionally, the parking garage at the corner of Layette Street and South Warren Street will be open to the public and free of charge during the event.
