Children living in difficult circumstances in and around Trenton rarely get the chance to participate in or attend performing arts events. The upcoming Youth Orchestra Festival at the War Memorial’s Patriots Theater aims to change that trend.  The Patriots Arts Coalition, working in collaboration with civic partners Millhill Child & Family Development, HomeFront, the Boys & Girls Club of Mercer County, Every Child Valued, and UIH Family Partners are arranging for children in need to receive “Music and a Meal” at the War Memorial for this exciting event on January 26, 2019

Helping necessitous children attend this Festival — so that they can see other children making amazing music on stage — is sure to open up their young minds to a world of possibilities. Inspiring even one child to take up a musical instrument could make the difference in helping them stay focused and determined to stay in school. Above all, the powerful feelings of community inclusion that the children will gain from this experience guarantee a positively memorable day.

“Everyone deserves the opportunity to be inspired by the performing arts” is the mantra of James Bushong, Director of the Patriots Arts Coalition.  “That’s a big part of our mission to make performing arts events as positively-purposeful and community-inclusive as possible. A large turnout at this event will also provide the young performers the maximum opportunity for developing courage and character on stage. It is a day where everyone wins by participating.”
