On Sunday, November 23, 2025 at 3:00 p.m., the historic St. Michael’s Episcopal Church (140 North Warren Street) in Trenton will host a special concert featuring a tribute to the influential African American composer, R. Nathaniel Dett.
This Sunday’s concert will showcase a live performance of Dett’s piano works, led by Clipper Erickson, acclaimed pianist and artist behind 2013 album “My Cup Runneth Over”. Erickson’s performance will be complimented by the vocal accompaniment of Holly Bash, as well as choral contributions from members of the Christ the King Church Choir.
Robert Nathaniel Dett (1882-1943) was a composer, pianist, teacher and choir director whose work blended classical traditions with African American spiritual and folk elements. The event seeks to honor and uplift Dett’s legacy as one of the United States’ most prolific and pioneering composers.
All proceeds from the evening’s event will support the preservation of St. Michael’s Church and its historic sanctuary. Tickets are available both online and at the door for $30 per person.
