NamaSTAY, awhile, because the New Jersey State Library is here to teach you all about chair yoga!

If you’re looking for a restful and restorative new way to flow, chair yoga is a beautiful way to get moving. On Thursday, February 16th, the New Jersey State Museum will be offering a free virtual seminar detailing the ins and outs of beginning a chair yoga practice. The webinar will be held on Zoom from 1:00-2:00 pm. Marsha Rudolph, MA, a registered yoga teacher will lead the session. If you’re interested in participating in this informative afternoon, you can register online here: Register – Chair Yoga.

Starting a new movement practice of any kind can sometimes feel like a daunting task. Thankfully, chair yoga offers participants a simple and accessible way to get active. Throughout the session, Marsha Rudolph will guide participants through seated and standing yoga stretches using the chair as their prop. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to learn a variety of stretches and breathing techniques to help you loosen up and relax. These newfound skills can then be incorporated into your everyday life. Whether you’re a 9-5 employee looking for a quick way to stretch or a method to combat mobility issues, chair yoga is a fantastic option for all stages and phases of life.

You may have heard of chair yoga in passing, but what are the benefits? In sum, chair yoga provides participants with many benefits of traditional yoga while offering a more accessible approach to achieving those results. Chair yoga can manage pain, increase flexibility, and boost your mental health. Especially for those struggling with mobility issues, chair yoga can be a transformational experience. The practice is especially recommended for employees with desk jobs, people over 65, and those with chronic health conditions. Regular movement is critical to staying happy and healthy, and chair yoga is an easy but effective way to improve your overall well-being.
