Whether you’re a purveyor of fine arts or just looking to experience something new, all are invited to enjoy the upcoming exhibit at the New Jersey State Museum!

The New Jersey State Museum recently announced “Beyond the Tangible,” a new exhibition of 26 non-objective abstract works by 22 artists from the Fine Art collection. The display will open on February 11th in the museum’s 2nd-floor gallery. The exhibit features works created by American artists since the 1930s. This collection will be displayed to the public through August 27th, 2023. The New Jersey State Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, 9:00 am to 4:45 pm. General admission is free.

Per Margaret O’Reilly, Museum Executive Director and curator of this show, “A number of the works included in this exhibition haven’t been on view in some time, and we’re pleased to have this opportunity to share them with the public again.” However, these pieces won’t be on display for long, so you will not want to miss the chance to enjoy the masterpieces on display.

A non-objective abstraction is a form of art lacking identifiable landscapes, objects, or people. Line, shape, color, and texture are all critical components of this art form. Viewers often look for meaning in this type of art. However, the artists have created these works solely for aesthetic purposes. Some artists employ this form of abstraction as their sole method of expression, while other creatives use a variety of styles to create their works. Each work invites the viewer to engage in a visual dialogue and perceive beyond what meets the eye.
