This month’s program, Rock Explorers, is certain to have your little one geared up to learn about the wonders of the geological world. The afternoon will kick off with a reading of “I Love Rocks” by Carl Meister. Afterwards, guests will have the opportunity to learn more about the three types of rocks and enjoy an up-close encounter as you break geodes and explore the textures, colors and shapes of rocks. Small Explorers programming is ideally suited for young guests ages 6 months old to 5 years old, but siblings and parents are also more than welcome to come along for the adventure.

The Small Explorers program is a monthly playgroup, sponsored by the PNC Grow Up Great initiative, which invites families from Trenton and the surrounding communities to come together, connect, and spark a lifelong love of learning in the program’s young participants. Each month, the NJSM selects an engaging topic and carefully curates an exciting day of programming based on that month’s subject. Activities include story time, hands-on activities, and the opportunity to explore some of the New Jersey State Museum’s expansive collection of exhibits. By offering this free monthly initiative, the NJSM hopes to connect parents within our community, forge friendships, and share resources for raising your little one in the Garden State.
