With school letting out for the year, there’s much time to fill during those long summer months. Parents know how tough it is to keep their kids entertained, learning, and engaged over the season. Thankfully, the Trenton Free Public Library is equipped with several fun, enriching activities that the whole family can enjoy all summer.

Just some of the exciting clubs, activities, and community events Trentonians can look forward to include:

  • Movie Night (weekly, Wednesdays, 5:00-6:30 pm): Everyone loves a good movie night! Gather the family for a weekly feature film that guests of all ages are certain to enjoy.
  • Lego Club (weekly, Tuesdays, 4:00-5:00 pm): Embrace your inner architect and join the fun at the library’s Lego Club. Each week, you’re invited to get creative and unleash your imagination with tons of Legos to choose from. More than just a fun activity, playing with Legos and similar toys can foster improved self-confidence, team working skills, problem-solving abilities, and more.
  • Bilingual Storytime (weekly, Thursdays, 12:00-12:30 pm): For little learners, bilingual Storytime is a great opportunity to explore new books and learn a new language. The human brain is at its most absorbent at a young age, and early childhood is the perfect opportunity to start on a language-learning journey.
  • Math Tutoring: (weekly, Saturdays, 11:00 am-1:00 pm): When people think summertime fun, math might not be at the top of that list, but staying sharp is a great way to stay ahead of the upcoming school year! Children in 1st through 8th grade are invited to receive extra help from trained math tutors. Students can bring homework, tests, or schoolwork to walk through topics they may need additional assistance understanding. Advanced registration is required to participate, so if you would like to enroll your child, please call (609) 392–7188 ex—32 for additional details.

The library also hosts several events throughout the season, which you can keep up with on their ever-expanding calendar, available here: Calendar – Library.

Even if your child isn’t interested in joining one of the clubs above, plenty’s still available for guests, young and old, to enjoy. The expansive kids and teens section has dozens of books, games, crafts, and activities at your child’s disposal at the Trenton Public Library. You can access a full list of resources and learn more about the library’s comprehensive virtual children’s programming by visiting their Kids – Trenton Public Library website.

There’s no time like the summer to explore new hobbies, and there’s no better place to set forth on a learning adventure than at home at your local library. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about available programming, please contact the Trenton Public Library at (609) 392-7188, and the library team will be happy to assist. Don’t be afraid to seize the day this summer, be sure to come and visit today!
