If you’re an arts aficionado, chances are you’ve found yourself wishing to get inside the mind of the artist. When we take a step back and really examine a work of art, it’s easy to find ourselves wondering what motivated the artist to come up with such wonderful creations. Having the chance to hear directly from the artist gives viewers the chance to understand the process behind the product, offering deeper insights into the context and experiences which shaped and influenced the work sitting before you. Now, the Trenton Free Public Library invites you to meet the person behind the painting at their upcoming artist talk with regional painter, Ken Alexander.

On Saturday, January 27th, you are invited to the Trenton Free Public Library for an ArtTalk with Ken Alexander, a self-taught Trenton-based painter. The conversation will kick off at 3pm at the Trenton Free Public Library campus, located at the heart of town at 120 Academy St, Trenton, NJ 08608. Ken Alexander currently has an exhibit on display at the library, which will be on view for guests to explore from now through January 27th. An engaging gallery full of brilliant color and powerful paintings, you’ll want to be certain to come out and see the exhibit before it’s too late!

Ken Alexander is a self-taught artist who got his start here in the Capital City. His work is mainly focused on exploring the various elements of the human experiences, which he brings to life through a number of techniques and abstractions. From colorful, petite portraits to massive, multi-medium displays, viewers are certain to be captivated by Alexander’s brilliant use of color, material, and placement to tell a profound story. Alexander incorporates themes of injustice, human suffering, and lived experience into his prolific body of work, striking the very core of what it means to be a human during these increasingly complex times.
