Baseball season is back, and the boys of summer are officially at bat. The return of baseball season means the return of the Trenton Thunder, and they’ve got plenty of surprises in store for their 30th season in the Capital City. On Tuesday, May 9th, you and your family are invited to the Trenton Thunder ballpark for their 30th season kick-off open house. Admission is free, but pre-registration is required, so RSVP here: Register – Trenton Thunder. During this event, guests can try out the exciting new concessions for this season, take a tour of the ballpark, and get a first-hand glimpse of the excitement planned for the next season of Thunder Baseball. Of course, a day at the ballpark isn’t complete without a live baseball game, so guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy a face-off between the Hamilton West Hornets and our city’s Trenton Central High School Tornadoes. Gates will open at 5 pm, and the first pitch will be thrown at 6 pm.

The Trenton Thunder is part of the MLB’s Draft League, a network of six baseball teams featuring a split-season amateur-professional format. During the first half of the season, players eligible for July’s MLB Draft are allowed to play and improve their stock ahead of Draft Day. Once the MLB Draft has been completed, the rest of the season will switch to the professional format. The MLB Draft League features former coaches and managers of Major League teams. Since 2021, the MLB Draft League has produced 86 MLB Draft picks and had nearly 50 undrafted free agents sign with a Major League organization. With world-class athletes and the facilities to match, Draft League teams are a significant asset to the communities they serve.
