In every corner of Trenton, visitors from far and near have the opportunity to take a glimpse at our city’s revolutionary past. From Trenton’s many monuments to countless museums, historic sites, and more, there is no shortage of access to the Capital City’s Colonial past. Exploring these destinations is a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in regional history, learn more about the city’s past, and connect with those who paved the path for the community we now enjoy today. Trenton’s Colonial predecessors played a critical role in the formation of the United States, leaving behind a legacy of bravery, determination, and innovation. And if you’ve ever wanted to live a life in the day of one of these revolutionary men and women, the Old Barracks has you covered at their upcoming Colonial Summer Camp.
This summer, children ages 9-12 are invited to enjoy a summer of historic proportions at the Old Barracks’ Colonial Summer Camp. This year’s session will be held from Monday, July 15th through Friday, July 19th from 8:30am to 4:00pm. Throughout the week, these young historians will have the opportunity to join General Washington’s ranks and live a week in the life immersed in American history. The cost to attend is $250 for Old Barracks Association Lieutenant Members and $275 for non-members. At the camp, kiddos will have the opportunity to participate in a number of activities that will immerse them in a rich cultural experience, offering loads of fun along the way. Throughout the week, attendees will participate in a number of include recreating camp life, cooking stew in the camp kitchen, marching to local historic sites including the NJ House and the 1719 William Trent House, playing 18th-century games, and more! Campers will be able to show off their newfound skills during a ceremony for their families on the last afternoon of camp. All campers will also receive a t-shirt to complete their camp uniform.
