From shooting hoops to running through the playground, there’s few better ways to spend a summer day than kicking back at your local park. Whether you’re looking to have some athletic fun or just want to spend a bit of time basking in the sun, there’s a place for every Trentonian in our city’s expansive selection of parks and recreational facilities. With summertime just around the corner, there’s countless ways for you to spend the day enjoying our city’s countless facilities. Today, let’s take a look at some of Trenton’s many parks and explore how you can make this summer in the city your very best one yet!

If your perfect day starts with a stroll along the Delaware River, looking no further than Trenton’s Waterfront Park. Located at Route 29 and Cass Street, Trenton, NJ 08618, this park offers the perfect vantage point to enjoy one of the region’s most spectacular waterways. In addition to some of the city’s best spots to view the river, visitors can also enjoy stunning walkways and sculptures, a state of the art playground facility, and plenty of places to sit back and enjoy this serene corner of the Capital City.

Another local favorite is Mill Hill Park, a sprawling green oasis in the heart of Downtown Trenton. As the roar of the Delaware and Raritan Canal rushes through the park’s epicenter, you can’t help but feel at peace in this special part of town. At the park, you’ll find walking trails, a playground for little visitors, and plenty of open space to run around and enjoy. Mill Hill Park also boasts a rich history, as the Mill Hill neighborhood has taken special consideration to preserve the historic homes and architecture surrounding this beloved park. Both a beautiful park and a portal to Trenton’s past, Mill Hill Park is certain to please.

For those of you history buffs in town, you won’t want to miss your chance to visit the Trenton Battle Monument. This important site, a part of the New Jersey State Park system, commemorates the victory of General George Washington and his troops during the Battle of Trenton. The Trenton Battle Monument is a grand statue which prominently features General Washington as he triumphantly gazes over our city. Whether you’re looking to teach your little ones more about our town’s history or just want to admire Trenton’s pivotal role in the Revolutionary War, a trip to this park is certain to be a monumental occasion for the entire family.

Finally, perhaps Trenton’s grandest recreational space is the idyllic Cadwalader Park, nestled away in the hills of West Trenton. Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the visionary behind New York City’s Central Park, this gorgeous, 109.5 acre space is the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Whether you’re popping by for a visit to the Trenton City Museum or taking in the idyllic sights and sounds of this blissful escape, there is a reason this historic park has been synonymous with fun for generations of Trenton residents and visitors alike.

While we’ve only covered a handful of Trenton’s impressive parks and recreational landscape, there is plenty more for you and your family to discover waiting around every corner.
