Find your roots at Raices II, the second concert in a dynamic music series at Artworks, featuring the pulsating multicultural sounds of the “modern roots” music movement. Less than a week away, Raices II will offer the invigorating tones and beat of Kuye, an authentic modern roots music. You’ll also hear the percussive guitar-riffs and soul-drenched melodies of Sonni Shine and the Trenton local beat masters Josie Lori & Nota G (Latin alternative Hip-Hop), with DJ ITSJUSTAHMAD.

The show starts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21st, at Artworks, (19 Everett Alley, accessible off Stockton Street between Front Street and Market Street). Tickets are $15 in advance, available at RAICES II . This event is sponsored and managed by Colmado Music, AfroTaino Productions and Artworks. It promises to be an amazing night of scintillating music.

Complimenting Josue and Nota, Sonni Shine weaves together percussive guitar riffs, soul-drenched melodies, and meaningful lyrics to create an earthy combination of R&B, funk, jazz, and folk. She sings with an urgency of feeling and emotion, and plays guitar with a style all her own; influenced by finger-picking, world rhythms and the blues. Her sound has drawn comparisons to Amy Winehouse, Rising Appalachia, Erykah Badu, and Norah Jones.
