The Kiwanis Club of Trenton is asking Trentonians to pitch-in and help clean the D&R Canal running through the City.  The clean-up will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2022 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Trenton Battle Monument. Additional meeting places along the canal can be set to accommodate volunteers in each of the City’s wards.

The clean-up is part of the 5th Annual New Jersey Clean Communities program sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. All supplies, refreshments and free t-shirts for participants are provided.

About three of the Canal’s 70 miles flow through Trenton. Built in 1830 the Canal created a navigable route from New Brunswick to Trenton, then back up to Frenchtown. Today it is the longest completed recreational trail in New Jersey and is part of the 3000 mile East Coast Greenway running from Maine to Florida.
