Foundation Academies invites community members to join FA scholars at our free Career & College Fair, 6-7:30 pm Wednesday April 17 at the FA Collegiate Athletic Center, 719 Cass St.
Representatives from more than 40 colleges, trade, military and career programs will be on hand to share information and answer questions. The event is free and open to the public. No registration is necessary.
“Foundation Academies is the only K-12 charter school in Mercer County,” said FA CEO Sheria McRae, a Trenton native who lives in the City. “This event is empowering everybody’s opportunity and success.”
Foundation Academies is Trenton’s free, public K-12 charter school educating more than 1,000 students on two campuses in the city. FA provides rigorous academics, and social-emotional support to equip our scholars to excel in learning and empower them to lead purpose-filled lives. FA’s graduation rate exceeds NJ state averages and college acceptance rates are nearly 100%.
This year’s event, organized by the FA Collegiate College & Career Department, features a wider range of opportunities, including the U.S. Marines, Pennco Tech, Innovate Salon Academy, and Mercer County Technical School.
Visitors can also meet representatives from Montclair State University, William Paterson University, Haverford College, Johnson & Wales University (Providence) and area schools including The College of New Jersey, and Rider University — among others.
FA scholars begin thinking beyond high school early as advisors coach scholars to identify their interests, strengths and goals and create a unique path to purpose. Starting in 10th grade, FA provides opportunities for campus visits, guides scholars through applications to college or career programs, and walks families through the financial aid process.
“Too often society underestimates the talent, ambition and purpose of students in urban communities,” Mrs. McRae said. “At FA, we see our children and their value — and we create an environment that enables our scholars to lean into who they were created to become.”
