Fall is almost here, and it’s time to clown in the Capital City!
Students will again begin returning to school, settling in for another year in the classroom. But what is best for our youth to spend those after-school hours? If the young person is looking for an engaging and unique way to stay active this autumn, the Trenton Circus Squad presents the perfect opportunity for high-flying fun. Whether your child has always aspired to be a circus star or is just now interested in the circus arts, all are welcome to try their hand with the Trenton Circus Squad.
Classes will be held at the Trenton Circus Squad headquarters at the historic Roebling Wire Works building at 675 S Clinton Ave, Trenton, NJ 08611. There is programming available for students ages 6-18, with circus school training being broken into the following sessions:
- Workshops (ages 6-11, resumes Oct. 2023): Workshops sessions, designed for little learners, will be held Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Trenton Circus Squad teaches these sessions to coaches and fellow TCS members.
- After School/Squad (ages 12-18, resumes Sept. 2023): For our community’s older youth, not to worry – there’s plenty of fun in store for you as well! The after-school program will be held Monday through Friday from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
So what role can the circus arts play in forming the futures of the next generation? As it turns out, time under the big top can be a powerful tool in transforming lives. As members of the Trenton Circus Squad, youth can push themselves to new heights (literally and figuratively!), work together with other squad members, and engage in a fun, meaningful way to serve their community. Surveys conducted by the American Youth Circus Organization (AYCO) indicate that by participating in the circus arts, students can forge self-confidence and self-reliance, learn the important skill of discipline, and refine their focus as they learn these incredible new skills.
