Here’s a riddle: what dances, laughs, reads, plays chess and Bingo, and does yoga every weekday?
Give up? The answer is The Reading Senior Center on Ringold Street in Trenton!
From her office nook in a refurbished train terminal off Pennington Avenue, former magazine shop owner, Lawaner Williams-Sykes, supervises senior citizen activities for the site for The City of Trenton.
Seniors can meet new friends as they exercise, learn more about diabetes and other health issues, listen to music, watch a movie,, or play cards or Bingo while enjoying a healthy lunch or snack.
You can relax and read a book, or have fun challenging others to a game of dominoes, or visit interesting places on group trips.
And that’s not all! Ms. Williams-Sykes is also Pageant Director for the Mercer County Senior American Pageant, and has been a contestant herself, entertaining a sold-out crowd with her comedic storytelling talents.
Want to take a walk down the runway yourself? Are your mom, sister, or aunt interested in being a pageant contestant? Want to volunteer at the Center? Have an idea for an activity for the group?
Stop by the Reading Senior Center at 15 Ringold Street Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or call Ms. Lawaner Williams-Sykes at (609) 989-3460 and talk to her about how you can be a part of the fun!
