September 12, 2020 marks the 2nd annual Trenton River Days, a free event celebrating the history, culture and recreational benefits of the Delaware River. Due to COVID-19, this year’s event will be a walk-through event and will be limited to 500 families.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 12, local families and community members are invited to South Riverwalk Park near the Trenton Thunder Stadium. Attendees will stop briefly at stations to collect giveaway items and educational information before exiting the park.
Participants will receive a free River Days face mask and hand sanitizer, farm-fresh produce donated by Howell Living Farm, and a free grab-and-go sandwich lunch. Children will receive a Watershed activity kit that includes a small colorful pail, a watercolor paint set, and a mobile featuring fish, crayfish, river otter and a bald eagle(animals that live in and around the Delaware River) to cut out and paint.
The River Days Event is made possible through the Alliance for Watershed Education of the Delaware River, a group of 23 environmental centers that share a mission to collectively increase and enhance constituent appreciation, knowledge and stewardship of the Delaware River Watershed. Partner organizations include The Watershed Institute, Mercer County Park Commission, Mercer County, the City of Trenton, D&R Greenway, and Abbott Marshlands.
Face masks are required and social distancing standards must be followed.
