One of our community’s most beloved matriarchs has a new title. At a recent board meeting at The Father Center of New Jersey, longtime leader Karen Andrade-Mims received a title change from Executive Director to Chief Executive Officer. This move reflects the important work being done by one of the community’s most cherished organizations and reinforces the growth and expansion the agency has experienced during one of the most challenging times for nonprofits in our recent history.

The mission of The Father Center of New Jersey is to support men in gaining the skills and meeting the responsibilities of fatherhood. The agency provides programming focused at strengthening families by supporting the needs of custodial and noncustodial fathers. Karen Andrade-Mims stated, “Our vision is to empower every father to positively impact his children and family – socially, emotionally, and economically. I am glad the board of directors saw the need to make changes in the title structure of the agency as we move into our 30th year of father-focused programming and make plans to celebrate all the lives we have positively affected in Mercer County and beyond.”

The Father Center of New Jersey is an innovative community organization that believes that children grow best when father figures are involved in their lives. Some fathers face challenges that prevent them from being fully engaged with their children, and we are here to support them – including adolescents, juvenile offenders, and ex-offenders who are re-entering the community. The agency provides opportunities for growth and success in a safe and comfortable space.

The Father Center offers fathers the emotional, social, and economic resources to improve their lives and those of their children. From stress management training and anger management programs to adult computer classes, the organization supports fathers in gaining the life skills to be there for their families. Karen stated, “At The Father Center of NJ, we believe that when fathers are empowered to be good parents, the entire community benefits.”

On June 18th, the Saturday before this year’s Father’s Day, The Father Center of New Jersey will host their annual Platinum Dads awards breakfast. Tickets are still available to attend this “feel good” event of the summer!
