Now a beloved annual tradition, the Mary G. Roebling Youth Concerto Competition first got its start in January 2023. In its first year, 17 talented music students auditioned to be a part of this inaugural event. In exchange for their time, all auditioning students received feedback from a panel of professionals, as well as a free ticket to the CPNJ’s spring performance. The 2023 winner, Angela Zhang, then had the opportunity to go on to perform Beethoven’s 3rd concerto with the Capital Philharmonic orchestra at the War Memorial Ballroom. Inspired by the resounding success of the first year, the Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey has made the decision to offer this competition as an annual event. This event offers not just a wonderful networking opportunity for youth musicians, but a profound way to connect the generations through a shared love of music.
