With rising temperatures, longer days, and the sun shining in the sky, that can only mean one thing – spring is on its way! And of course, what would this beloved season be without an unforgettable spring break? Spring break is a wonderful time to welcome the warmer months, embrace the season, and get a jump-start on your favorite springtime activities. If you’re still trying to determine the best path for your family’s spring break fun, the New Jersey State Museum has you covered with a number of hands-on activities to help make this your best break yet.
When it comes to keeping the kiddos entertained and engaged throughout the break, a day at the museum can be the perfect ticket to keeping boredom at bay. Each year, the New Jersey State Museum offers a handful of family-friendly hands on activities to help keep busy and even learn a thing or two along the way! The New Jersey State Museum is located in the heart of Trenton at 205 W State St, Trenton, NJ 08608. Throughout Spring Break, guests are welcome to drop by the NJSM’s Imagination Station from 1pm to 3pm, where they’ll be met with a fun and free craft to create. The museum will be offering a number of crafts, including:
- March 26th, 27th, & 28th – Create your own spring flowers, based on the art of Arthur B. Carles Jr., featured in the American Perspectives gallery.
- April 2nd & 3rd – Make water bottle wind wavers! Rather than throwing away empty water bottles, learn how to recycle them into colorful art for spring.
In addition to these creative hands-on activities, there is plenty more to be explored throughout the museum. From a trip to the skies at the museum’s daily Planetarium showings to a number of exhibits featuring art, history, science, and more, there is something for learners of all ages and stages to enjoy. Younger guests will be particular fond of the museum’s Discovery Den, a family engagement play space for children ages 0-8. In this space, families can come together to enjoy books, pretend play, crafts, and more. No matter how you choose to spend spring break, a day at the museum is a must-do for any Garden State family.
