Patriots Theater at the War Memorial recently announced that the State Ballet Theatre of Ukraine will be bringing their production of “Sleeping Beauty” to Trenton. The production of this beloved ballet will be held on Thursday, December 15th at 7 pm. Patriots Theater is located at 1 Memorial Dr. in Downtown Trenton. The performance is presented by the State Ballet Theatre of Ukraine, a collective of some of the finest ballet artists in the world. The company is recognized as one of the most prestigious classical ballet institutions in Ukraine. Boasting an expansive repertoire, the company tasks itself with preserving and honoring the tradition of Ukrainian dance. “Sleeping Beauty”, composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, follows the story of Princess Aurora on her journey to true love. On her 16th birthday, Aurora is cursed by the evil fairy Carabosse. With the single prick of her finger, Aurora is cursed to 100 years of sleep. The only anecdote to this slumber is a kiss from the prince, her one true love. According to the Guardian, the production is “a master class in classical style with some of the most delightful steps in the 19th-century repertoire.” With Tchaikovsky’s memorable melodies, intricate costumes by Konstantin Pinchuk, and exceptional dancers, the performance is certain to be a cherished memory for all who attend.

The performance will be held at the historic Patriots Theater at the War Memorial. Built in 1932, the War Memorial has served as a place of community for the last several decades.
