Hear ye, hear ye! Thou presence is requested for a tavern night that’s certain to take you back in time.
If you’re ever wondered what it might be like to time travel to a 1700s pub, the Old Barracks has you covered with their upcoming Tavern Night on Friday, September 8th. This beloved annual fundraisers invites supports of the museum to put on their best petticoats, raise a toast, and spend the evening in an authentic 1800s tavern. Over the course of the evening, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy delectable savory hor d’oeuvres, an open bar featuring beer and wine, and take part in a number of activities that are guaranteed to bring old-fashioned fun to all. Some of the fun guests can look forward to include card games as well as the chance to learn dance steps to the most popular songs of the 18th century. And keep an eye on the dance floor, because you might just see some ladies and gentlemen from the period busting a move!
If you’re interested in being a part of this evening of colonial conversations, admission is $60 for Old Barracks Museum members, and $70 for non-member supporters. Please do be aware that no guests under the age of 21 will be permitted for Tavern Night. Although period dress is not required, it certainly is encouraged! Thanks to your generous support, all funds raised from the event will go directly towards the Old Barracks’ educational efforts. Through their “Meet the Past” field trips, the museum is empowered to educate thousands of New Jersey children about our state’s historic past.
