March 21st (3/21) is known worldwide as World down Syndrome Day.
On this day, individuals with Down Syndrome and those who live and work with them throughout the world organize and participate in activities and events to raise public awareness and create a single global voice for advocating for the rights, inclusion and well being of people with Down syndrome. This day is honored annually on 3/21 as Down Syndrome is characterized by having 3rd copy of the chromosome 21.

The Down Syndrome Association of Central New Jersey (DSACNJ) is celebrating World Down Syndrome Day a few days later this year on the following Saturday on March 23rd with their 5th Annual – Rock Your Socks Off Dance Fundraiser at Rho Waterfront.

This event will feature non-stop dancing, free caricatures, a photo booth, and a delicious buffet lunch along with children’s free raffle door prizes as well and an exciting silent auction featuring great deals.

Money raised from the event will go towards DSACNJ’s efforts to support and educate friends, families, and professionals in our communities, spread awareness of how similar those with Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) are to their peers and expand the opportunities for social inclusion by sponsoring events.

This year’s theme is “Our Dreams Are Taking Flight” as the organization will also celebrate the upcoming grand opening their enrichment center “Club DREAMS” in Ewing, NJ which will offer free socialization, enrichment, academic support, job skill training and career opportunities to people with Down syndrome in the region.

Tickets and sponsorship are tax deductible. To purchase tickets or for sponsorship information visit
