Spring break is right around the corner, and students all over the state are preparing for this much-awaited vacation! If you’re a parent scratching your head about how you’ll keep your little ones busy, the New Jersey State Museum has you covered with a wide array of activities for the entire family.

On April 11th through 14th, the NJSM has a calendar chock-full of activities for children of all ages to enjoy. Whether your little one is a future space explorer, historian, or art enthusiast, they will have a blast with these spring break festivities. Guests can participate in storytime, arts and crafts, and even visit the NJSM’s state-of-the-art planetarium. Read on to learn more about all the exciting activities planned for you and your spring breakers.

The fun kicks off in the museum’s Discovery Den with story time and crafts. At noon, guests can enjoy a reading of Swirl by Swirl: Spirals in Nature by Joyce Sidman. This vibrant tale teaches the ins and outs of the spiral and where you can find these fabulous natural formations. Your child will undoubtedly have a blast reading along and seeing how many waves they can spot during the story. After the story, kiddos can make some snail art, bringing their own spiral-filled masterpieces to life.

Afterward, the fun will move down to the Imagination Studio, where from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, guests are invited to create a mosaic. If your child isn’t sure where to start, do not worry! There are plenty of examples of mosaics scattered throughout the museum. This is a beautiful opportunity to explore the museum, get creative, and be inspired by all the NJSM offers.

How about outer space if you’re looking for a getaway this spring break? The New Jersey State Museum’s planetarium is open for business and is ready to take you and your little one on a journey through the atmosphere.
