Louise McCants, a Trenton native and Trenton Central High School graduate was appointed the Trenton YMCA’s CEO in April 2022. Ms. McCants’ decades of leadership experience and strong business sense have made her an incredible leader for this historic organization. Her experiences allow her to cultivate many of Y’s special programs, including building on 127 years of Trenton Y basketball and the Y’s much more recent innovation, the Community Dance Academy. The Community Dance Academy allows participants to harness the arts to foster self-expression, imagination, and critical thinking. By leveraging her relationships and several years of experience, McCants boldly leads the YMCA in bringing new life to our community.

The Trenton YMCA is a cornerstone of the Trenton community. For over 100 years, The Y has offered recreation, social services, and more to our city’s residents. The Trenton YMCA is one of the oldest Y branches in the country. The Trenton YMCA was home to the nation’s first professional basketball game. Trenton won that first basketball game. Today, the Y continues to bring a winning spirit to the Trenton community by promoting healthy habits and a strong sense of social responsibility. This event is hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Trenton, which has served the region since 1918. Since their founding, over 1,200 members have made it their mission to better our community. The organization has raised over $2 million for projects and programs that have benefitted our community’s children, elderly, poor, and disabled citizens. Their continued commitment to Trenton has brought enlightenment and entertainment to our city’s populace for decades. They are behind some of the city’s favorite traditions and events, including the annual Trenton Police Officer of the Year Award, the Easter Egg Hunt at Cadawalder Park, and regular clean-ups of the Trenton Battle Monument. The Kiwanis have been in service to our city for several decades and show no signs of slowing down soon.
