Black Females Investing in Real Estate (BFIRE) and Dress For success are teaming up to give back to the Trenton community.

BFIRE is a group of six women in the Mercer County area who began an investment group in 2020. Their work involves buying and selling real estate, but they have started to work with the Trenton community that they serve.

Lovis Rhodes, Community Liaison for BFIRE LLC, explained that they want to give back to the community every quarter. “So this is what we do on a quarterly basis. Because we’re all women of faith, we believe in giving back to the community. We believe in doing outreach,” Rhodes said. “We just don’t want to just be known for buying real estate.”

This month, they teamed up with Dress For Success to collect professional attire and donate it back to the community. Melissa Tenzer, CEO of Dress for Success, wants to help everyone. “What dress for success does is it helps women and youth find clothing and tools to be successful in the workforce. We help students at Trenton Central High School, with programming on financial literacy, as well as clothing that they may need in their everyday life as well as for special occasions like proms for the girls,” Tenzer said.

They are collecting women’s business clothing that is lightly used. This includes suits and separates, pants, skirts, dresses, blouses, jewelry, shoes, and handbags for the spring and summer months.

“It’s important because many people in the community haven’t been able to afford the clothing to get interviews and have for their everyday life. So to donate, you’re helping people get the tools to be able to either go to college, to be able to dress for an interview to be able to go to court,” Tenzer said.

The drive is going on to the end of the month. The clothes must be ready to wear and on hangers; for more information and drop-off locations, email lovis@bfireenterprises.com.
