An American Rescue Plan (ARP) Webinar will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Trenton Free Public Library.

“Trenton is a city defined by great moments in history,” said Mayor Gusciora. “It’s out of respect for that legacy that we’re making sure the Trenton Free Public Library gets the repairs it needs. This includes $4 million in ARP funds for repairs and improvements to the main building on Academy Street. Additionally, these renovations are crucial for allowing the Library to continue expanding their essential digital literacy and employment resources for Trenton residents.”

Mayor Gusciora released his updated version of the his spending plan last month. The plan includes increased funding for youth recreation services, library improvements, and TWW infrastructure maintenance without taking on additional debt. It also includes increased  public safety expenditures. Our administration is still accepting comments and concerns on https://talktrenton.org/.

Part of this proposal is $4 million for repairs and improvements to the Trenton Free Public Library. The expenditure will go towards a new HVAC system, new roof, exterior masonry repairs, and rehabilitation of the library’s interior spaces. Without these renovations, the library – the second oldest in the nation – could suffer further deterioration and damage to its many resources, including irreplaceable historic artifacts.

The event will be live on the library’s Facebook page @Trentonpublib. There will be a tour of the library building following the meeting.
