Enjoy yourself with family and friends at an African-styled party starting tonight (February 27) and then a black-history-themed movie on Friday (February 28), both at Trenton City Hall (319 East State Street). The Mayor and City Council have fashioned these free festivities as a community conclusion to the month that is officially dedicated to a better understanding of Black History across the country. Of course, Black History is important to everyone, so everyone is warmly invited!
Tonight from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., join in at City Hall to celebrate Black History Month with African drums, dancing, and the spoken word. Light refreshments will be served and the event is free. The evening is sponsored by the Trenton Downtown Association, Greater Trenton African American Chamber of Commerce for Mercer County, The African American Cultural Collaborative of Mercer County, and The African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey Inc. A good-sized crowd is expected!
Then, on Friday, February 28, at 6:00 p.m., you can enjoy a movie night featuring a curated film chosen to educate and enlighten the Trenton community to the vast contributions and impacts that African Americans have made to the United States since 1619. Refreshments will be served and the event is free. The evening is sponsored by Trenton City Council.
