On Saturday, April 15th, join Isles for an evening of fun at their Spring Celebration. This event will feature locally-sourced global cuisine, cocktails, and fascinating conversations that you won’t want to miss. This year’s events will honor two community members close to Isles: Sam Frisby, YMCA Executive, Community Leader, and Mercer County Commissioner and Mike Van Wagner, a just retired NJM Executive who has championed nonprofits throughout Trenton. If you’re interested in being a part of this wonderful evening, tickets for the event are on sale here: Tickets – Spring Celebration.
The fundraiser will be hosted at the Social Profit Center at Mill One, a historic mill that Isles renovated into a community hub for nonprofits, social impact offices, and artists as well as Isles’ headquarters.
Housed in a large, formerly vacant textile mill, Isles’ Social Profit Center brings together nonprofits, social impact businesses, and artists under one roof. The Center offers affordable, flexible, and high performing office, studio, and warehouse spaces in a unique, energy efficient historic building. For more information, including available spaces, visit www.socialprofitcenter.org
This event will feature a range of delectable local cuisine, from a variety of empanadas, to Mediterranean fare, and comfort food with a Southern flair, prepared by the talented Occasions by Cintron. There will be delicious cocktails and mocktails, including a signature “Springtime Sparkler”, as well as Isles’ signature “Bees Knees” featuring their local award-winning honey, along with live music and entertainment, and an interactive art activity created by artist Alia Benslaman.
“We’re celebrating two special friends of Isles,” says CEO Sean Jackson, “Both Sam and Mike play critical roles lifting up our mission and supporting the work of Isles in job training, affordable housing, and downtown revitalization. To recognize them in our unique ‘Mill One’ event space will make the evening all the more special.”
This event also recognizes Isles’ impact in the Trenton region over the last 41 years. Through an array of self-help services, Isles has empowered more than 1,250 students to receive educational opportunities and job training, helped over 800 families to purchase homes or save them from foreclosure, and trained hundreds of gardeners to participate in urban agriculture across in the city. In addition to these incredible efforts, Isles has remediated more than 490 homes to be lead-safe, and weatherized more than 1,100 to be energy efficient. Isles is proud to work with downtown partners to support business development through façade improvements, business training, and “pop-up” store opportunities.
This event would not be possible without its devoted sponsors and corporate supporters. Led by Gold Partners NJM Insurance Group, M&T, and Matrix, sponsors include Silver Partners PNC Bank, Solar Landscape, and PSEG; Bronze Partners CBIZ Borden Perlman, Walsh Pizzi O’Reilly Falanga, CLA (formerly SobelCo), Horizon BCBS, and First Bank; Sustaining Partners Capital Health, The Bank of Princeton, Mylo Mechanical, Parker McKay, and PrincetonAir.
“This is one of my favorite events of the year,” says Isles’ Chief Operating Officer John Hart. “I call it a perfect ‘date night’ because it’s such a fun evening to enjoy local food and drink while supporting an impactful organization.”
