Graduates of Thomas Edison State University’s April 2018-2019 Accelerated 2nd Degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program cohort achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) for 2019.
The 2019 outcome marks the fifth graduating cohort to achieve a 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX-RN exam since the program’s launch in 2011.
“We are immensely proud of the graduates from the program,” said Dr. Ana Maria Catanzaro, interim dean of the W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing. “This is a testament to the caliber of the program and our students’ dedication. We also applaud the W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing’s undergraduate staff and nurse educators who continue to be committed to their success.”
The Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN Program is an intense, 12-month program designed for those who already possess a non-nursing bachelor’s degree and are interested in becoming a registered nurse. It features online and campus-based courses and simulation lab experiences provided by Thomas Edison State University. Clinical experiences are held in community-based agencies and at Capital Health facilities in Mercer County, N.J.
“I chose the W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing because of its relationship with area hospitals, home healthcare services and community organizations,” said Anna Mohlenhoff, RN, a graduate of the cohort and a Plainsboro, N.J., resident. “From a public health standpoint, I learned the needs of those living in the community and immediately was able to help structure their nursing care, post-treatment and preventative care plans. I also felt fortunate to find a nursing program that only required a 1-year commitment.”
Pass rate information is reported to the university by the New Jersey Board of Nursing and provided by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, and reflects the results of all first-time NCLEX-RN test takers from the university who took the exam.
