Those who enlist in our country’s military make the sacrifice to serve every day, and now the New Jersey State Museum is joining hands with several institutions throughout the country to give back to the brave men and women in uniform.

The New Jersey State Museum will join the Blue Star Museums initiative nationwide. This program provides free admission to currently-serving U.S. military personnel and their families this summer. The 2023 program will begin on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 20, 2023, and end on Labor Day, Monday, September 4, 2023. While admission to the N.J. State Museum is always free to any attendee, there is an admission fee for Planetarium programs. That fee is waived under the Blue Star program.

The free admission program is available for those currently serving in the United States Military — Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, and Space Force, members of the Reserves, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps, and up to five family members. Qualified members must show a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), D.D. Form 1173 ID card (dependent I.D.), D.D. Form 1173-1 I.D. card, or the Next Generation Uniformed Services (Real) I.D. card for entrance into a participating Blue Star Museum.

Blue Star Museums is a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families, collaborating with the Department of Defense and participating museums across America. A list of participating museums is available at arts.gov/bluestarmuseums.

With thousands of artifacts and artworks on display, service members and their families will have a blast at the New Jersey State Museum.
