The American Repertory Ballet is a non-profit organization that brings the majesty and joy of both classical and contemporary ballet to New Jersey and beyond. With humble beginnings as a small dance school, the organization rapidly evolved into three distinct parts:
- American Repertory Ballet, the premier classical and contemporary ballet company in the state
- Princeton Ballet School, offering world-class dance training to students aged 3-93
- Access and Enrichment, which offers education and outreach initiatives that bring dance to children and families throughout the community.
The American Repertory Ballet has been dubbed a “Major Arts Institution” by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. They have also been the recipient of the Citation of Excellence by the Council, and frequently voted for the Jersey Arts People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Dance Company.” The Company features world-class dancers from all over the globe. Each year, the Company puts on a variety of performances to uplift audiences and spread the joy of dance throughout the region. The American Repertory Ballet’s upcoming performances and events can be found here: ARB – Performances.
Audiences will also get to enjoy the musical contributions of the Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey, Trenton’s professional orchestra. The Capital Philharmonic was founded in 2013 and its mission is to establish Trenton as a beacon for the musical arts. The Capital Philharmonic boasts a roster of exceptional musicians who put on several performances throughout the calendar year. Filling the void of the New Jersey Symphony, Capital Philharmonic is able “to change lives and enhance the quality of life by providing Trenton and its surrounding communities with a locally-based high-quality professional symphony orchestra.” You can read more regarding their upcoming performances here: Capital Philharmonic – Concerts.
Finally, this event would not be possible without the small but mighty voices of the Trenton Children’s Chorus (TCC). The TCC empowers local youth to achieve academic and social success through the transformative power of music. The Chorus provides Trenton children with a variety of life-changing services, including choral music education, drumming and keyboard instruction, performance opportunities, music theory instruction, tutoring, homework assistance, SAT prep, college application help, and summer camp scholarships. According to the Trenton Children’s Chorus, while 30% of Trenton students don’t complete high school, 100% of TCC graduates go on to attend college. As both one of the finest children’s choruses in the country and a vital resource for its participants, the Trenton Children’s Choir is changing lives one song at a time.
