For over 100 years the Trenton Farmers Market has brought farm-fresh goodness to tables throughout the City and beyond. Times change, and so does the Farmers’ Market, which is making sure it is evolving to meet the needs of today’s consumers. The Kiwanis Club of Trenton welcomes Bill Kearney, Manager of the Trenton Farmers’ Market to tell us how this Trenton icon is stepping into the 21st Century.  All are welcome to attend the program on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 beginning at 12:15 p.m. in Leonardo’s II, 2021 Brunswick Pike, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.

Mr. Kearney joined the Trenton Farmers’ Market in February 2023, bringing 25 years of marketing, advertising and consultative sales experience.  He has been busy engaging the public in the Market’s unique offerings – the Market includes Polish and Amish stands as well as a punk rock site and two vegetarian restaurants.  To spread the word Mr. Kearney has employed everything from social media and radio ads to “hokey-pokey” attractions like pumpkin painting.  He sees the Farmers’ Market as a “local legacy destination” able to bring fresh produce from throughout the area to Trenton dinner tables. Mr. Kearney is a resident of “The Island” neighborhood in Trenton and a 1986 graduate of The College of New Jersey.

Founded in 1918, the Kiwanis Club’s programs have supported children’s services, community events and since 1955, the Times-Kiwanis Camp Fund, which has raised over $2 million for summer camp experiences for Trenton children.  In addition to the ongoing Camp Fund, current Kiwanis initiatives include “Vision Trenton,” a collaborative community effort to stimulate economic redevelopment by promoting Trenton’s extensive historic assets.

Lunch will be available off the menu for $20 per attendee.   Please RSVP by November 1, 2023 by contacting Mike McCormick at (609) 208-9991 or mccormicknj@aol.com
