Café 609 located at 333 W State Street, much like other restaurants in Trenton, has made drastic changes to the way they do business amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Though it has been a difficult few weeks for many small businesses across the city, establishments like Café 609 are taking it upon themselves to help those in need by offering generous discounts on hot meals.

Owner Chris Matthews stated that he was in contact with the local fire department as well to offer free meals for all they’re doing for the the city of Trenton during the pandemic. Matthews also wants people to know that Café 609 will be offering discounted meals for senior citizens along with $0 delivery fees.

Matthews believes that giving back to the community during this time will allow the city to heal quicker. “There’s not much more we can do other than pray and make sure we are keeping as clean as possible,” said Matthews. He wants to assure people that life will return to normal, but that it is important for people to follow the policies put in place by the city, state and federal governments.

Café 609 and other restaurants who remain open during the pandemic are also taking extra precautions when it comes to in-store cleanliness. Matthews stated that his restaurant is being rigorously cleaned every hour on the hour to eliminate any possibility of harmful bacteria being present.

Though no customers can dine in the store front at this moment, Café 609 is very much open for pickup and delivery orders. Please do your part to support local restaurants like Café 609 as they continue to remain open in the hopes that they can support you during this difficult time which we all face together.
