Stravinsky’s 1918 work, L’histoire du soldat (A Soldier’s Tale), holds a significant place among the chamber music works of the 20th century. It offers a unique opportunity for those who have yet to experience it. This theatrical composition conveys a powerful message about the enduring battle for human values in a world plagued by inhumanity. The narrative unfolds through the interactions of a narrator, a soldier, the devil, and a princess, accompanied by a chamber ensemble of seven instrumentalists. Although written over a century ago, the music itself remains vibrant and relevant to contemporary audiences. Together in partnership with Passage Theater Company, this stirring performance is certain to strike the hearts and minds of its viewers.

This performance is presented by the Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey, who has been bringing professional classical performance to the Capital City since their founding in 2015.
