Anger is a complex emotion which impacts each and every one of our lives. Anger can be a righteous tool which fans the flames of justice and inspires the masses to fight for a better world. On the other hand, however, anger can be a tool of destruction, sowing division and destruction between families, friends, and communities. When anger gets out of hand, it can wreak havoc in our lives and hurt both ourselves and those we hold dear. However, by strengthening communication skills, implementing practical coping mechanisms, and identifying the root causes of our emotions, we are better-equipped to handle whatever life throws our way.

When it comes to the life of a returning citizen, this is a process which can evoke a number of emotions. After incarceration, a reemergence to society can be both joyful and uncertain, causing a whirlwind of thoughts and feelings. As reemerging citizens re-enter our society and reacclimatize to day to day living, it is up to us as a community to provide these individuals with respect, care, and resources to help get back on their feet. And if you or someone you love is a reemerging citizen, Empowerment House has you covered with all the tools you need to process those feelings and come back better than ever.

Beginning on Wednesday, January 10th, Empowerment House will be hosting a handful of Anger Management Sessions. A follow-up session will be held on Wednesday, January 24th. The workshop will begin at 5pm at Mercer County Community College’s James Kearney Campus, located at 102 N. Broad Street, Trenton, NJ 08608. Throughout the evening, guests will have the opportunity to learn deescalation techniques, coping mechanisms, and other ways to handle anger when it arises.
