The Trenton Public Schools (TPS) will kick off the Every Day Matters Attendance Campaign this upcoming Saturday, February 23rd from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. at PJ Hill Elementary School.
The Every Day Matters Attendance Campaign is intended to positively encourage and promote all of the benefits of students coming to school daily and on-time. The Every Day Matters Rainbow Drive at PJ Hill Elementary School, will feature free music, food, face painting, physical exams, immunizations, lead testing, and flu shots. Community service providers will be present as TPS distributes rainbow kits that will include various rain gear items.
This event is sponsored by Aetna, Wellcare Health Plan Inc., the Capitol County Children’s Collaborative, and Princeton Area Community Foundation’s All Kids Thrive grant. All Kids Thrive is a new initiative from the Princeton Area Community Foundation awarding a total of $3 million in grants to 10 nonprofit and school partnerships collaborating to reduce chronic absenteeism in Mercer County. Each partnership was awarded a $300,000 All Kids Thrive grant that will be paid out over five years. The Trenton Public Schools were recently awarded an All Kids Thrive grant to train Attendance Improvement Teams in every school and create comprehensive parent and community engagement plans, as well as a parent resource center. They are also partnering with other Trenton-based All Kids Thrive grantees to improve attendance district wide with the Every Day Matters plan.
