Coloring is a fun and creative way to relieve stress, engage our brains, and enhance our days with a splash of vivid color. However, for many of us, we haven’t picked up a coloring page since our elementary school days. While folks typically think of coloring as a kiddo’s activity, as it turns out, coloring can be equally enriching for grownups in all stages of life. A meditative mindfulness activity, artistic endeavor, and helpful hobby all in one, the coloring book can no doubt be a cure for some of the many stresses of day to day life. And if you’re looking to get your coloring fix in the Capital City, then you will no doubt have a ball at the Trenton Free Public Library’s upcoming Adult Coloring workshop.
On Friday, March 15th, you are invited to the Trenton Free Public Library for an afternoon of coloring and connection. The activities will take place from 2pm to 4pm at the Trenton Free Public Library campus, located at 120 Academy St, Trenton, NJ 08608. At the workshop, grownups can embrace their inner child for the day while working away at a colorful creation of your choosing. Before you know it, with a bit of patience and a whole lot of creativity, you’ll be left with a masterpiece of your own making to enjoy.
Adult coloring has been demonstrated to offer significant mental health benefits to those participating in the hobby. But don’t just take our word for it – according to the Mayo Clinic, coloring can play an important role in improving your health. Per their findings, the Mayo Clinic confirms that coloring can be a beneficial activity for promoting mindfulness, relieving stress, and embracing the imperfect. In the intensity and rigidity of our day to day lives, this fun hobby gives us the opportunity to be free-spirited, disconnect from our daily stressors, and embrace the flow of our artistic endeavors. No matter your “why” for an afternoon of coloring, you’re certain to walk away feeling refreshed, renewed, and ready to take on the day with a creative twist.
