On Friday, October 28, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) will be hosting a massive job fair and career expo. This marks the second of its kind within the last month.
TASK invites interested participants to visit 72 ½ Escher Street to apply for jobs with a variety of employers, including Home Depot, UPS, Amazon, Wayfair, Stand Up Wireless, and more. Participants will also be able to connect with organizations that can provide support to job seekers like Dress for Success, WorkWell, The Father Center of New Jersey, and TASK. Interested applicants must bring two forms of ID and have a valid e-mail address to participate.
Job search assistance is a critical component of TASK’s Adult Education & Work Preparedness program. For nearly a decade, TASK has assisted patrons with creating stand-out resumes, identifying prospective employment opportunities, and offering support through the application and interview process.
TASK partners with a myriad of local employers to run hiring drives throughout the year and collaborates with other agencies to help people in the community. TASK forges these relationships to help patrons overcome challenges and secure the education and training necessary to succeed. Last year, more than 400 people utilized TASK’s job search assistance services to seek employment, and TASK hosted more than 38 hiring drives.
Per Paulash Banerjee, TASK’s Job Search Specialist, “By and large our patrons want a steady, long-term employment. Our goal is to remove as many barriers as possible to ensure their success.”
The job fair and career expo mark the second time this month that TASK has brought together such a wide variety of employers and support services at one time. Opportunities like this give job seekers the ability to speak to multiple employers and agencies at one time, in one place. For additional support, TASK has also partnered closely with employers to help job seekers overcome a variety of barriers, including transportation, reentry after incarceration, and job-specific training for those who need it.
TASK encourages anyone looking for a job to come to Friday’s Career Fair to meet employers and learn more about the programs and services available to assist them. If you’re an employer interested in participating, please reach out to TASK at (609) 695-5456 for more information about how you can participate in future hiring drives and career fairs.
TASK, which has served more than six million meals in the Trenton area since 1982, also offers a multitude of resources to encourage self-sufficiency and improve quality of life, including social services, adult education, job search assistance, creative arts enrichment, and the provision of basic necessities.
