Are you trustworthy, professional and reliable? Do you have excellent communication skills and experience working with youth, specifically those in the Trenton community? Then you just might be who HomeWorks Trenton is looking for in a new New Jersey Bonner AmeriCorps Program Assistant.

HomeWorks Trenton, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides a community-based, after-school boarding program for Black and Brown high school girls in Trenton, is looking for a qualified employee with a strong commitment to their mission, values and scholars. Their mission is to inspire and equip young women from marginalized communities to achieve their potential and positively transform the world around them by providing a supportive and educational residential environment.

From Sunday evenings to Friday mornings, the organization’s scholars live in the HomeWorks house and are transported to and from their public schools. Every afternoon, the girls engage in activities focused on academics, life skills, women empowerment and civic engagement. They then eat a family-style meal and stay overnight in dorms with two full-time staff.

HomeWorks unique model brings the benefits of the boarding school experience to public education without the bureaucracy, high fixed costs and scalability issues of an actual school. Currently, the organization is in need of a Program Assistant to assist with their ongoing goal to impact a community where scholars uplift each other and lead their communities.

As HomeWorks’ Program Assistant, you will serve as the link between the HomeWorks’ administrative team and the HomeWorks’ house team. At the house, you will complete a daily log detailing the needs of the house, run daily academic tutoring and study hall, coordinate with tutors and support the HomeWorks staff with overseeing daily programming.

Additionally, you will also serve as a Bus Aide during afternoon scholar transportation hours. You will assist with program operations and marketing, including run HomeWorks’social media campaigns and create content for multiple platforms; manage success metrics; creating new pitch decks and more.

From September 2021 to June 2022, Program Assistants will work from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the HomeWorks house from Monday to Thursday during the program. They will work from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the HomeWorks administrative office on Fridays. From July 2022 to August 2022, Program Assistant will work 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the administrative office from Monday to Fridays.

HomeWorks plans to run a full-year residential program from September 2021 to June 2022, but will adapt to COVID-19 guidelines and regulations as necessary.
